    Information about Mattress Pads

Here are four types of mattress pads:

      1. GUARANTEED TO FIT: Guaranteed to fit (if only they could pull this off for our personal wardrobes) mattress pads will fit securely over the deepest mattress and stay secure. Guaranteed to fit pads are designed with expandable sidewalls, often called "expand-a-grip", and are available in both wrap and fitted styles.

      2. WRAP PAD: Covering the top and side of the mattress with elastic all the way around the bottom, this is the most secure type of pad. Quilted on both the top and the sides, providing a secure fit for your sheets with all around padding.

      3. FITTED PAD: A fitted mattress pad covers both the top and sides of the mattress but resembles a fitted sheet with elastic on each of the corners. It will be quilted only on the top of the pad and will provide a good fit.

      4. ANCHOR PAD: Covering only the top, this has an elastic band in the four corners, making it the least secure style. It is also the thinnest and most moderately priced choice in this category.

As with all bedding products, another important feature is THREAD COUNT. The higher the count, the softer and more durable the pad. Also look for the thickest pad. You will literally be paying by the thickness, but this will provide the most comfort and protection. Check each mattress pad for its specifications.

SIZING: The size, specifically the depth, of your mattress is important when choosing a mattress pad. Pillow Top and Extra Deep mattresses have become very common, so before selecting your mattress pads, it is important to know how deep your mattress is. Here are some dimensions to use as a guide. Bear in mind that manufacturer's sizes may vary slightly, however these dimensions serve as a good representation of what should be expected for these items:

  • STANDARD DEPTH: 7 to 9 inches
  • DEEP MATTRESS: 10 to 15 inches
  • EXTRA DEEP: 15 inches to as deep as 22 inches

  • Once you determine the depth of your mattress you'll need to select the proper depth mattress pad. Here are some approximate depths to follow:

  • STANDARD DEPTH: 7 to 14 ? inches
  • DEEP PAD: Up to 15 inches
  • EXTRA DEEP PAD: 16 to 22 inches
